What Is It To Be Among the Very Small Remnant?

WHAT IS IT TO BE AMONG THE VERY SMALL REMNANT?

In every dispensation of time, God has set aside a very small remnant.  Noah and his family are the very small remnant of the great deluge.  When the children of Job perished all at the same time, there were 4 remnants left that reported the story to him.  In Sodom and Gomorrah, Lot and his family were the very small remnant.   In Isaiah 1:8-9, it mentioned that;

“Unless the Lord of hosts had left to us a very small remnant, we would have become
 like Sodom, we would have been made like Gomorrah.”

What exactly is the meaning of this passage?  In the New Living Translation of the bible this is what is written:

            “If the Lord of Heaven’s Armies had not spared a few of us, we would have been wiped
 out like Sodom, destroyed like Gomorrah.”

Therefore, the small remnant can be referred to as those whom God spared.  Where are the small remnant whom God spared coming from?  They are coming from that which God will destroy. In the case of Lot, they came from Sodom and Gomorrah that God destroyed. Below is what transpired when Abraham intercedes with the Lord for Sodom.  Genesis 18:22-33

The other men turned and headed toward Sodom, but the Lord remained with Abraham.
23 Abraham approached him and said, “Will you sweep away both the righteous and the wicked?
24 Suppose you find fifty righteous people living there in the city—will you still sweep it away and not spare it for their sakes?
25 Surely you wouldn’t do such a thing, destroying the righteous along with the wicked. Why, you would be treating the righteous and the wicked exactly the same! Surely you wouldn’t do that! Should not the Judge of all the earth do what is right?”
26 And the Lord replied, “If I find fifty righteous people in Sodom, I will spare the entire city for their sake.”
27 Then Abraham spoke again. “Since I have begun, let me speak further to my Lord, even though I am but dust and ashes.
28 Suppose there are only forty-five righteous people rather than fifty? Will you destroy the whole city for lack of five?”
And the Lord said, “I will not destroy it if I find forty-five righteous people there.”
29 Then Abraham pressed his request further. “Suppose there are only forty?”
And the Lord replied, “I will not destroy it for the sake of the forty.”
30 “Please don’t be angry, my Lord,” Abraham pleaded. “Let me speak—suppose only thirty righteous people are found?”
And the Lord replied, “I will not destroy it if I find thirty.”
31 Then Abraham said, “Since I have dared to speak to the Lord, let me continue—suppose there are only twenty?”
And the Lord replied, “Then I will not destroy it for the sake of the twenty.”
32 Finally, Abraham said, “Lord, please don’t be angry with me if I speak one more time. Suppose only ten are found there?”
And the Lord replied, “Then I will not destroy it for the sake of the ten.”
33 When the Lord had finished his conversation with Abraham, he went on his way, and Abraham returned to his tent.

On these verses, the saving grace of God is revealed that for the sake of the very small remnant He will spare the entire city.  However, Sodom and Gomorrah were to be destroyed because the outcry against them has grown great before the face of the Lord.  There was already a standing order to destroy them as written in Genesis 19:12-13

Then the men said to Lot, “Have you anyone else here? Son-in-law, your sons, your daughters, and whomever you have in the city—take them out of this place! 13 For we will destroy this place, because the outcry against them has grown great before the face of the Lord, and the Lord has sent us to destroy it.”

In order to carry out the Lord’s order to destroy the cities but spare the small remnant, what did the Angels do?

When the morning dawned, the angels urged Lot to hurry, saying, “Arise, take your wife and your two daughters who are here, lest you be consumed in the punishment of the city.” 16 And while he lingered, the men took hold of his hand, his wife’s hand, and the hands of his two daughters, the Lord being merciful to him, and they brought him out and set him outside the city. 17 So it came to pass, when they had brought them outside, that [b]he said, “Escape for your life! Do not look behind you nor stay anywhere in the plain. Escape to the mountains, lest you be [c]destroyed.”

The rest, as they say is history.  Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed; Lot and his 2 daughters were saved; his wife disobeyed the order not to look back and became a pillar of salt.  But what is the message we want to convey here?   The Lord God will always set His people aside and will by all means save them in times of great tribulation.  In the story of Sodom and Gomorrah, the very few remnant were held by their hands by the Angels and brought them outside the city.  Very clearly, therefore, the Lord wants them out of the city that is about to be destroyed.   This is parallel to the order from God in Revelation 18:4 to “get out of her” because of the destruction that is about to happen.  Does it only refer to the Catholic Church?  Of course not!  According to the sermon of Ka Erdy in Israel, the Babylon referred to includes all that it represents.  (The Living Bible 52:11)

"Go now, leave your bonds and slavery. Put Babylon and all it              represents far behind you—it is unclean to you. You are the holy people of the Lord; purify yourselves, all you who carry home the vessels of the Lord."

The Church of Christ today under the leadership of brother EVM has all the ingredients of being one that Babylon represents.   This is she as described by the Bible in Isaiah 1:21-23:

How the faithful city has become a [k]harlot!
It was full of justice;
Righteousness lodged in it,
But now murderers.
22 Your silver has become dross,
Your wine mixed with water.
23 Your princes are rebellious,
And companions of thieves;
Everyone loves bribes,
And follows after rewards.
They do not defend the fatherless,
Nor does the cause of the widow come before them.

Lucky are those who are included in the very small remnant that God has set aside to save.  The true members of the Church of Christ must insure that they are among those that the Lord God Almighty has set aside.  Be with the very small remnant, get out of her before it’s too late.
